Cut from a dense short-pile velvet that deepens in the folds and brightens along every raised crest, this Women's Green Velvet Midi Dress is built around a deep V neckline and nine self-covered buttons running down a shaped center-front panel to the waist. The fitted bodice draws in at the seamed waist before releasing into a full gathered skirt that falls to mid-calf.
At the front, soft gathers fan out from each side of the center panel; at the back, a plain yoke gives way to dense vertical gathering across the entire upper back, finishing at a smooth waistband with no zipper and no opening. Long sleeves with a puffed sleeve head at the shoulder taper to a narrow plain cuff at the wrist, and the dress pulls on over the head.
The velvet has a little give but the bodice is cut close through the bust and waist, so if you are between sizes or want more room across the chest, take the larger size. The gathered velvet skirt moves well with block-heeled pumps or strappy sandals, and the dress slips easily under a coat when the temperature calls for one.
